We love to use the caterpillar turning into a butterfly as a metaphor for transformation. We start as one thing and through various processes, struggles, and events over time we become something else. But the butterfly was always a part of the caterpillar just as the caterpillar is still a part of the butterfly. Today we hear the story if Jesus becoming “transfigured” before a few disciples. What does that mean? And perhaps more importantly, what does it say about our own transformations?
