Exodus 1:8-2:10
In this week’s Scripture, we have the origin story of baby Moses, set by his mother in the river to save him from death, drawn out of the water by Pharaoh’s daughter. This tender story is set with a backdrop of Pharaoh’s order to kill all the Hebrew’s sons, based in false fear of the Hebrew people. Moses, who grows up to lead his people (the Israelites) out of captivity and slavery, to the promised land, was raised, in part, by Pharaoh’s daughter. This story brings up questions that are just pertinent today – why does one group of people fear another group of people? What happens when we truly care for each other’s children, not just our own? Join us in worship this Sunday as Rev. Mollie preaches on the compassion of caring for all God’s children.
