Sunday, March 13, 10:15 a.m.
“When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not reap to the very edges of your field, or gather the gleanings of your harvest. You shall not strip your vineyard bare, or gather the fallen grapes of your vineyard; you shall leave them for the poor and the alien: I am the Lord your God.”
Leviticus 19:9-10
Let’s be honest: a lot of the stuff in Leviticus seems pretty weird to us. Leviticus is the book of laws that governed the ancient Hebrews after their flight from Egypt. It’s the book that tells us not to wear clothing of mixed fabrics, not to eat lizards, and not to let our hair become unkempt. As 21st-century American Christians, we’re not quite sure what to do with Leviticus. But there’s real wisdom in there, most notably in a fierce concern for the well-being of “the poor and the alien.” Join us this Sunday for the fifth installment of our Lenten “Come to the Garden” series as Pastor Curt preaches harvesting and how it’s all God’s.
