Celebrating Sunday, March 20, 10:15 a.m. “As he was now approaching the path down from the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds of power that they had seen, saying, ‘Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!'” from Luke 19:28-40 Why is Palm Sunday called Palm Sunday? Because of the palms, of course. Which palms? The ones that an adoring crowd lays down in front of Jesus as he rides into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. Luke doesn’t actually mention the palms in his account, but he definitely mentions the crowd. Everybody’s shouting. Everybody’s singing. Everybody’s high on the Jesus buzz. Little do they know that within the space of a week their collective euphoria will give way to betrayal, agony, and an execution on a cross. Join us this Sunday for the sixth installment of our Lenten “Come to the Garden” series as Pastor Curt and Seminary Intern Logan Bennett preach celebrating and then lead us along the stony path from Palms to Passion.
