Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed. So she ran to Simon Peter and the other disciple and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.”
from John 20:1-18
Easter morning begins with a mystery. Jesus is dead. He has been tortured and executed, and his broken body has been laid in a tomb. The Jesus story is over. The Jesus movement has been buried with its leader. All that’s left is a band of his devastated followers, hiding behind locked doors, terrified that they’ll be next. One of them, Mary Magdalene, decides to do the only thing she can do to honor Jesus. She buys spices and goes to the tomb, planning to anoint his body. But his body isn’t there. So where is it? Where is Jesus? Join us on Easter Sunday as Pastor Curt preaches resurrection.
