Sunday, June 12, 10:15 a.m.
Then they arrived at the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. As Jesus stepped out on land, a man of the city who had demons met him. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he did not live in a house but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he fell down before him and shouted at the top of his voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?”
from Luke 8:26-33
If you’ve heard this story before, you’ll remember how it ends–with Jesus casting the demons out of the man and into a herd of swine grazing nearby. Hence the picture of our porcine friend above. But the pigs aren’t really the point. So what is the point? What are the demons that have caused this man to live among the tombs, outcast, broken, and raving? What’s a “demon” in the first place? Join us on Sunday as Pastor Curt preaches the things within us that work against us.
