Having rules and following rules is important. While they may be annoying and frustrating at times, laws are one of the ways we govern our behaviors so that we can create a safe and mutually beneficial community together. But what about laws that are unjust? What about when laws do more harm than good? Jesus was a good and faithful Jewish man who understood the importance of keeping the law. But he also knew that sometimes breaking the rules was the only way to bring God’s desired healing and justice to the world.
