Lakewood UCC is one of nearly 1,650 UCC churches that support the wider church mission through special offerings throughout the year. The past eighteen months have had a profound impact on UCC clergy and congregations-physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. The Christmas Fund helps provide pension and health premium supplements to low-income retired church workers, emergency assistance to clergy families in need. This year the UCC Christmas Fund has received a record number of requests for financial assistance—more than twice as many as last year—from active and retired clergy, church staff, and their families. These servants of the church have spent lifetimes baptizing and blessing, teaching and preaching, marrying and burying, comforting and empowering God’s people. Now, through this special mission offering, we have the opportunity to sustain and empower them. We will be collecting for the fund on offerings taken on December 19, and 24.
